Would You Like Fries With That?

So you are going out to eat..got your Sunday best on (or whatever isn't stained at the moment) and you go out to your local restaurant and have yourself a nice meal. The wait staff was pleasant, there was little to no wait for anything, the food was perfect and you are stuffed. The bill comes , you pay, and you leave. Do you remember what you tipped? Yes, tipped..as in the monetary gratuity that you leave the waitperson on the table or attach to your bill when you pay by credit card.

Alot of people don't think about this..others just don't care, through a few bucks on the table and you're good right?Well lets give you some background information that most people that have never worked in the food industry DON'T know...

Most waitstaff  are NOT getting paid minumuim wage. Why? Because of their position. They expect the tips to make up for the paycheck that they aren't getting. Around where I live, in a normal restaurant, your typical waitress makes 3 something an hour. She is expected to make at LEAST minimuim wage when adding her tips to that amount. And the IRS looks at that as well. Busboys and cooks? They make at LEAST min. wage or more depending on the length of time they have worked there and their exp. So when you stiff that waitress because the cook messed up your burger? Yeah, you aren't getting back at the cook at all, he's getting a stable amount per hour regardless, but that waitress?Not only did you just stiff her out of some of her rent, but you probably pissed her off...DON'T PISS OFF THE WAITSTAFF if you are ever planning on returning to eat there again, and no i'm not saying that they'll spit int your food, because 90% of them find that just as disgusting as you do, but you will wait longer, your food will be colder, and chances are..your service next time is going to suck. Waitstaff have to put up with angry,belligerant, moronic, picky, and just downright nasty people for 3 dollars an hour..and then you wonder why, when you left those 2 quarters she got pissed. Wouldn't you be?

So the main purpose of this rant is to be kind to those that are working hard, and save the rudeness to those that are hardly working.:)

Crayon Ball

Do you remember when you were little and one of the projects that you did as a child was to melt all your crayons and make a ball of cool colors that everytime you drew with it,it would look new and interesting?That to me is life.You take a bunch of dysfunctional people, stick them together, whether it be in a big social network like Facebook or Myspace, and you see how all the colors and personalities come out.This is most like what I'll be writing about..so start yawning now:P
